1956 Chevrolet 3600 Pickup Print E-mail
This 14,268 mile original truck came to us to be restored. The son now owns his fathers truck who was the original owner. Unusually equipped with the inline six cylinder engine, 4 speed manual transmission, small rear window and 17.5" tires.
Unfortunately, we lost the photos of how it came in. Surprisingly little rust is always a good thing. Here, the cab, motor and transmission have been removed.
After media blasting the cab, there is some items to attend to but nothing major
Firewall and floor have been primered.
After the metal etch primer has been applied, we seam seal every joint. This is important to keep water out of the joints, especially after 50 years of the factory sealant drying out.
The motor is now ready for freshening despite its 14,268 miles. Time is a worst enemy then mileage
Motor is installed and accessories are being assembled.
The rest of the drivetrain is installed
The cab is painted in its factory Mayan Red color.
The inside of the cab also gets painted
  Assembly of the front sheetmetal
It is starting to come together in the engine compartment
The heater box had to be completely disassembled and rebuilt
The shifter, emergency brake and floor plate are installed after being rebuilt.
The dash gets the factory two tone treatment
Doors and bed are installed and being made ready for paint.

Installation of the hood after the entire truck was repainted. What a difference!
After cleaning up the seat springs, priming and painting them, we then assembled the frame and started the cover fabrication.
After new padding, the newly made cover is installed. Nice!
Wiring in the engine compartment has begun. We will be testing everything as it is provided with power.
Dash assembly has begun with the wiring
Fuel tank and floor mat have been installed and fitted.
  Dash gauges are installed
Wet sanding and polishing has begun
  Right side is polished
Close up of the polished paint
Grille and headlamp bezels have been installed
  New side emblems installed
  Rear window being installed
  Seat is installed
Door glass and inner trim have been installed.
Headliner has been installed along with the dome lamp.
Interior is finished. This was back when trucks were work horses. Vinyll seat, vinyl floor covering, no other options.
Outside view of the right front 3/4 view. The wood on the bed sides are owner supplied.

 The mighty 6 cylinder engine.
