1953 Chevrolet Pickup 5 window Resto Mod Print E-mail
This truck comes to us with the plans to make it a mild street rod with a new modern drivetrain and suspension. Originally blue but later changed to a two tone brown and tan. Stay tuned for the transformation!

  Disassembly has begun of the front sheet metal. The cab and bed along with the drivetrain will be removed next.

  Cab has been stripped of all bolt on parts and is ready to be media blasted.
  Now that the body and chassis have been bead blasted, we can see all the problems.

  Steering rack clearances had to be obtained by radiusing the frame
  4 link suspension installation has begun.
  Here is the complete suspension welded in.
  The new tubular crossmember is ready to be fitted and bolted in.
  Reinforcement is welded in the tube to provide additional strength
  Here is the transmission crossmember bolted in.
  The GM 350 HO has been mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and placed into the chassis
  The serpentine pulleys have been installed.
  The reproduction cab is being gone over for any dents. The fuel filler opening has been closed off as we are not installing the fuel tank in the cab.

  We have started blocking the cab and found some high spots but nothing terribly bad.
  Block hugger headers are required to clear the chassis
  New Holley fuel pump is installed with a custom made bracket inside the frame rail. New lines are plumbed also.

  Cab is test fitted onto chassis. Fits pretty good!

  New pedals and support being test fitted.
  This is what the color looks like without the flash. It looks much different outside
  Front bumper filler is being rehabilitated
  After removing the cab, we filled all the holes that we will not be needing and we had to recess the area by the distributor a little further to compensate for the HEI cap size. It is now reinstalled and the Vintage A/C installation has begun.
  A/C control panel, louvers and a/c evaporator unit are being installed.

  New fuel tank is installed with new retaining straps

  The pedal bracket and plungers are installed.
  All the plumbing for the clutch hydraulics is done. The wiring is being run also.
  The pedals have been painted and the wiring is laid out.
  Fuel pump has been plumbed, brake lines are run.
  Steering shaft support has been fabricated and welded in place
  Column end has been set up.
  The bed has been brought into the shop and work has been started.
  After much metal work, body work has begun

  Bed is assembled to check that everything fits as it should

  Body work has been completed on the bed panels. They have been primed and edged in color.
   Headlamp switch and engine start pushbutton have been added to dash
  Gauges are installed.
  GMC Denali power seats are being fitted. These are great since the seat belt mechanism is already installed and makes it very simple to upgrade the interior comfort.
  Seat tracks are mounted.
  Pick up bed is painted and ready.
  We are modifying the dash to have the original speaker grille become a hinged part to hide the stereo system
  All non necessary holes have been welded closed and the grille conversion is finished

  Flush mounted LED CHMSL has been cut open into the roof panel.
