1972 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible |
This VW comes to us with poor performance and a popping out of gear transmission.
 | The car was originally blue but has been painted a nice shade of silver. | | | We diagnosed the engine with zero compression in one cylinder , low in two others | | Once we removed the engine, we found the intermediate floor to be completely rotted | | Another view of the amount of rot. This floor is completely soft. | | The right rear inner wheelhouse is waffled from a prior collision and was never repaired | | This is the right rear frame rail in the right rear wheel area. It is not supposed to be curved. | | View from the passenger compartment to the engine compartment with a light in the engine bay. There is a lot of body structural issues going on in this body. This is a crack in the metal | | The ultimate example of lack of structural integrity. Notice how this quarter panel appears straight, now look at the next picture. | | Just by applying 1 person with one arm pressure on the rear bumper, the quarter panel pops out. It is not connected to the inner quarter or much of anything else. This is just a light pressure, imagine what would happen in a real impact. | | | | |
