This very complicated setup is the brake pedal and emergency brake pedal. Another example of overengineering.
This trunk lid was supposed to be "ready for paint" according to the shop we picked this car up from. We found more high and low spots and side to side inconsistencies then the moon surface. Definitely not ready for paint.
An atrocity has been uncovered.  The quarter panels are riddled with thick body filler. The filler is so thick that the profiles on both quarters do not match. The metal was patched incorrectly. The proper way to patch is to make sure the the patch fits flush with the metal, not on top of the rust.
Another view of the thickness. 1/4" of body filler is just plain unacceptable. Not to mention the metal underneath has rust. This was just begging to come back and haunt the owner.
